About our keyfob system

We have installed an electronic lock for the club door, with keyfobs individually assigned to eligible members who have purchased one.

The keyfobs allow 24/7 unlimited access to the club, for practice or match use. It allows fob holders to play when they like, rather than being tied to the opening times.

This system has allowed us to make the club more accessible while maintaining security; each keyfob use is recorded, so we know who has accessed the club and when. This allows us to ensure the club is looked after and kept secure. These details are not shared or publicly displayed.

In the event that a fob is lost, stolen or damaged, it can be individually replaced and the old one deactivated. Using our old lock we would have had to replace every key.

Who is eligible for a fob?

Keyfobs are not automatically offered to all members, and are not available at all for visitors or non-members.

Because the fob grants unlimited access to the club, we need to protect our delicate cloths and expensive equipment, plus safeguard access to the bar and other facilities.

To to be eligible, you must meet one of the following:

  1. be personally vouched for by a committee member
  2. be an active member of a home team
  3. be a long standing local league member

AND be a club member of good standing, meaning you are fully paid-up, and do not have a history of mistreating the club, its members, or services.

Generally, if you meet the above requirements you should have no problems qualifying for a fob. Please understand that if you have just joined us, it may take a while before you are offered one.

Please do not take this personally - we want to make the club as available as possible to all members, but we must put the safety and security of our club and its facilities first.

If you are not well known by the club, whatever your credentials or playing ability, you will not be offered a keyfob.

How do I access the club without a fob?

If you don't have a keyfob then you will need to visit the club during our regular opening hours, or with another member who owns a fob.

Keyfobs should not be shared at any time. Please do not use another member's fob if offered.

How much are keyfobs?

Keyfobs are currently priced at £5 each.

You should not have to pay any additional fee unless your fob is lost/damaged and you need a replacement; they should last for years.

You will still need to pay your normal membership and practice/match fees as usual.

How do I use my keyfob?

There is a reader panel inside and outside the main door to the club. Touching the fob to either reader will unlock the door.

The red light above the door indicates the door is locked. A green light means it is released. It will unlock for 5 seconds afer successfully reading your fob.

Touching the outside reader will sign you in, and record that you have arrived. Touching the inside reader signs you out, recording you have left.

We ask that all fob holders sign in and out in this way even when the door is already open, or if you are not the last one out.

Firmly closing the door will lock it using the magnet. Please gently check by trying the door before leaving. You can also lock yourself in to play in private, meaning only other fob holders can come in.

The last member to leave should always ensure that all lights, irons, and heating are switched off. The table heaters should be left on. Full printed guidance is on display in the club.

Keyfob security

Each keyfob is individually assigned to a specific club member. Each use is recorded with the date and time, and CCTV is present both inside and outside the club to ensure fobs have not been stolen or shared.

Fob usage data is not published publicly, but is used to ensure the safety and security of the club and its members. If a door is left open, something is missing or damaged, or some car keys are found for example, we can work out who has been at the club and when, and cross-reference with CCTV to determine who we need to contact.

Keyfobs shold not be shared at any time. We can deactivate any members fob if we believe it has been lost or stolen, or if the club has been mistreated in any way.

If you have lost your fob, please contact a committee member as soon as possible. If you have any questions about security, please contact us.

In an emergency

In an emergency, you can escape at any time by pressing the green button inside to disable the door lock immediately, without using your fob.

Otherwise, please use your fob to unlock the door and sign out.
