Code of Conduct

  Note: These codes of conduct are taken directly from our constitution.  Members can contact the chairperson/secretary to receive a copy.

All members and visitors to the club will be expected to abide by the following codes of conduct. Disciplinary action may be taken against any individual acting against the club codes of conduct.

Members, visitors, volunteers, players, and spectators on or about the club premises must:

  1. show correct respect for each-other and absence of discrimination in-keeping with our statement of Sport Equity and in-keeping with the ethos of snooker.

  2. not undertake any action that may bring the reputation of the club, the local snooker leagues, or the Westward Ho! Community Association into disrepute.

  3. not participate in or omit to mention anything which might cause damage to themselves or others.

  4. not intentionally or negligently cause damage to the club, its property, or property belonging to any other person within or about the club. The club may seek compensation and consider disciplinary action for any damage caused.

  5. at all times treat the tables and facilities with respect. All individuals are responsible for their own actions and must seek further information or clarification if they are unsure of the best way to use, maintain and care for the club facilities or equipment.

  6. ensure they pay for all games, matches or events they have taken part in, and any food or drink consumed or purchased, promptly, on or before the due date.

  7. adhere to the health and safety procedures of the club.

  8. adhere to any posted signs detailing codes of conduct, procedures, or behaviour.

  9. respect the viewpoints of the club’s members if they are different from their own.

  10. not be under the influence of any illegal substances.

  11. not carry, possess, supply, or trade any illegal items or substances.

  12. not attend the club for the sole or primary purpose of drinking and should be able to participate in all club activities without drinking alcohol, and without any coercion to drink.

  13. not be unduly intoxicated at any event or activity where such behaviour could be deemed unacceptable, unprofessional, or not in-keeping with the etiquette or ethos of the game of snooker. All individuals must be aware of their own behaviour and the impact on others, particularly other members, members of the local community and our neighbours.

  14. not pressure or coerce any other member or individual into an action with which they feel uncomfortable.

  15. operate within the club rules and regulations and act lawfully at all times.

  16. not disclose any confidential material about the club or other members/individuals.

  17. Take responsibility for their own understanding of this Code of Conduct and the repercussions of any breaches and seek further information or clarification if they are unsure about how it should be applied.
